Of special note are correspondence from Little, Brown & Company to Patoski concerning legal issues related to the publication of the book. Also of special interest is the correspondence between Patoski and Selena’s father concerning Abraham’s wish for Patoski to ghost write a biography of Selena.

Abstract

The Ray Benson archive includes material documenting Benson’s music career from 1971-2017. Majority of the collection includes promotional articles, including an article from John Morthland; and awards. Included in the collection are photographs of Benson with President George W. Bush, Laura Bush, and others; Benson’s boots and concert jacket; and correspondence with Dolly Parton and others. The folder titles preceding a semicolon reflect Benson’s original descriptions.

Arranged alphabetically by award ceremony name, and then chronologically. Publicity material for music award ceremonies, such as the Grammys, Latin Grammys, Tejano Music Awards, and Noche de Fiesta Tejana comprise the bulk of this series. Of note are the business records of the Texas Talent Musicians Association as they created the Tejano Music Awards. Boxes 189-192 contain awards, arranged chronologically.
